Why this site
Visitors to Amsterdam ask the same practical questions about magic truffles: whether they are legal for tourists, where to buy them, which one to pick for a first time, whether the hotel allows it, what to do if it goes wrong, and whether anything can go home. The answers are scattered over Dutch law texts, city bylaws, hotel conditions and Dutch-language health information. This site puts them in the order a visitor needs them, as seven steps that end in a plan you can print.
How the information is put together
- Primary sources first. Legal statements link to the official texts: the Opium Act, the Road Traffic Act, Amsterdam's general bylaw (APV), the Supreme Court ruling of 10 April 2026 and the laws of other countries. Safety information comes from Dutch public health sources such as Jellinek and DRUGSinfo of the Trimbos Institute.
- Shop text as shop text. Strength levels and gram amounts for individual strains come from Dutch-Smart's product descriptions, and we say so where we use them. We found no published lab measurements per strain.
- Checked dates. Every page shows when it was last updated. Laws and city rules change; if you find something out of date or wrong, Dutch-Smart's customer service can pass it on to us.
- No medical claims. We make no claims of any kind about health or medical effects.
- No invented people. There are no testimonials, reviews or personal stories on this site.
What this site is not
It is no substitute for emergency help. In a life-threatening situation in the Netherlands, call 112. The help page lists the other numbers for Amsterdam.
It is also no encouragement to use truffles anywhere they are illegal. Everything here assumes a stay in the Netherlands, by adults, with nothing taken across a border (going home).
